Esther's Story

My daughter Stacy is writing this for me. Questions I have been asked to answer: If I were a candy what would I be? A lemon drop. Who is my hero? Jesus (could there be any other)He died for me so I can be forgiven for my sins and have a chance for eternal life. He is my best friend too. He forgave me for what I did and said and thought wrong yesterday and gave me this day. He says, "I love you and talk with me sometimes". He is there with you now. One person I'd like to see again? God. I am certain we have met before. He is my creator. You know what? I see him everyday come to think of it. He blows cool air in my face, he gives me such joy in my heart, he is everything good and sends such wonderful people to smile with and share with daily-some old, some new. I can see him and feel him all day and night. His word is my bed partner. Yep. That would be him. Whats been my biggest surprise in life? That I feel and look the way I do at this age. Always wondered how I would look at 50+. I am for real yall. LOL Look at us. We still feel the same and when we look in the mirrow, we are much older. I love the Lord. We are all blessed to be here and sharing with one another. What I have learned from my kids? Now that they are both grown - self preservation is the 1st law of nature. LOL Which teacher would I love to see again? My Mother, Esther Eula Hackett-Byrd (a very strong Christian woman-such wisdom and courage)What a legacy she left for all who knew her. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever known. My father, the strongest man I ever knew. How many grandfathers would raise their grand-kids alone while their daughter finished college? They were ages 2 and 4. He taught me to hunt and fish. I could shoot a rabbit with a rifle. (I ate it yall it was not a game). We won't talk about the sling-shot. Who was my 1st Crush? If I tell you I'd have to kill you. If I had a million dollars what would I do with it? Invest it all in Wally world (walmart). For real. We have all been there within the last 7 days and we purchase more than we had on our lists....Expand for more
Some people go in there daily just to walk around, meet people. I am convinced there is a secret Walmart club. What Tropies are my mantle and share the victory. Stacy and Randy-my children. Masterpieces! How do I dress now? I wear more dresses now. I would not wear dresses for any reason at all. I still like my jogging pants and t-shirts. My daughter encourages me to show my legs more (below the knees). If I could do one do over what would it be? I would do Me again. I was asked to share a childhood memory I will never forget. I remember a play with all my classmates. I think we were in the 1st grade. We all had to represent a particular country. My cousin Paulette Smith was an Eskimo I was an Indian. LOL I had to sing a duet with Myrtis Dightman and we were just kids - we sang "will you marry me sir she said" and he had to kiss me on stage. WE practiced it often in front of everyone. Myrtis was the first little cowboy I knew. I will always have fund memories of that. Everyone that had lost their two teeth in the front, sang "all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" while pointing at their teeth. Everyone was so cute. I was late loosing my teeth so I just sat out front and cracked my sides laughing. Got in trouble every time. LOL Do I have a boyfriend? No. Its scary out there yall-even in church. Especially ministers. Men ask me how could it be I am not married or have a man. They ask if am mean or something. I tell them, "any old man won't do." The right man has not come along yet and I am not looking. The last one told me I was running out of time. What does that mean? Does he know something I don't know?? That's not even funny. LOL Who is my oldest friend and how we met. Jesus. My Mom and Dad introduced me to him to me from birth. I was sprinkled at Jones Chapel AME Methodist Church on the Mountain. Jesus is my Savior and Friend. You know he died for Me? How do I want my friends to remember me? I hope all my friends remember me with smiles and laughter. If they can't remember me that way, then I don't want them to remember me at all.
